there is a photo that especially caught our attention in the exhibition hall that is on the second floor of the group office building. in the photo, three young fellows, wearing broken gloves and their clothes covering with dust, are busy working.
this photo brings us back to the year of 1995.
on the morning of december 30th (lunar calendar) of 1995, administrative staffs were ready to have a holiday after a busy year. suddenly, bad news came that a furnace body in the converter workshop collapsed, and it caused the production halt. if the furnace had been removed and repaired after the spring festival, production would have been delayed for at least one week and hundreds of thousand yuan of economic loss would have been caused. if the repair was made immediately, those several workers on duty could not accomplish it.
hearing the news, zhang jianhong and liu chuanqi replied simultaneously, ‘ let’s do it. gather all manpower, remove and clean up the broken furnace body, and we will complete the task in 10 hours.’
dozens of administrative staff and support staff gather in front of the office building within minutes. after a simple order, they rushed to the broken reaction converter. the converter was 10 meter in length, 3.5 meter in width, and the inside temperature was over 100 degree centigrade. to remove and to clean up it within half a day was really hard.
zhang jianhong, liu chuanqi, and the on-the-spot manager zhou guangsheng wore gloves, and changed to rubber overshoes, and they started to work in the front without saying a word. the base of the converter were red-hot firebricks. stepping on those firebricks, the rubber overshoes started squeaking and smoking, and smelled burnt. they moved bricks, and the gloves could not protect them from the heat, and the bricks burnt their hands so badly. but seeing the dropping beads of sweat from zhang jianhong’s and liu chuanqi’s heads, the staff did not hesitate to do the work. their lunch was eaten on site, and each of them devoured several steamed buns in hurry, and immediately went back to carry bricks.
seeing the staff’s passionately work on the spot, zhang jianhong was so touched, and he decided to keep the touching moment. he brought a camera, clicked it, and the lens captured three young fellows.
until the dusk, the converter was cleaned up. when they left the factory, so exhausted, they heard the continuous sound of firecrackers from the nearby villages. and many of them just realized that it was already the spring festival eve.
it may be a coincidence that 17 years later these three young fellows become three senior executives of dongyue group: vice president and dean of research institute--zhang heng, general manager of the chemical company--pang feng, deputy general manager of the polymer company--zhang xihe. and this photo becomes the exemplification of dongyue’s hf three capacities spirit ‘capable of enduring hardship, capable of hard-working, capable of taking trouble’.
required to pay back in less than one month., and mr zhang started to borrow money from somewhere else. our company become a quality client for several financing institutions. especially after dongyue was listed in hk, the credit line that financing institutions give to dongyue is far above the capital need. the age of borrowing morning from yunan has long gone, but we can not forget the experience.
